eNom Founder Advocates Keeping Neustar as .US Registry to Ensure Continued Confidence

BELLEVUE, WA - As the US Department of Commerce considers reassigning operation of the .US top level domain from Neustar, which has managed the TLD since 2002, Paul Stahura, founder of eNom, Inc. the world’s second largest domain registrar, asserts making a change from the present management of .US may incur unnecessary expense for registrars and negatively impact the TLD’s reputation and brand.

"Neustar has proven they are technically sound, and there are no issues with the registry," Stahura said. "They have done a terrific job growing the .BIZ extension to over 1.8 million registrations and the 5th largest TLD worldwide, and growing .US to 1.3 million and 6th largest TLD worldwide. Neustar’s technology has proven to be solid and reliable."

In comparison to the growth of other country code extensions, Stahura said, "Despite the unavoidable fact that .COM is the de facto TLD in the United States, .US has held its own. This doesn’t indicate a need to change things at the registry level." As for marketing, Stahura said "Certainly any registrar could step up at any time and be aggressive about promoting .US, as many of us have done and will continue to do. You do not need to be the registry to market .US well."

Stahura believes changing the .US registry could create needless administrative and technical expense for registrars to process such a switch.

Stahura also favors maintaining the price integrity of .US as he believes a slightly lower price would not significantly affect volume. "Price is not the only factor in the success of a TLD. Neustar has, with .BIZ and .US, demonstrated they can grow TLDs in an extremely competitive marketplace."

Stahura looks forward to Neustar continuing as the .US registry. "Neustar has proven itself in both the technical and management arenas to be capable, responsive and highly respected. I can’t think of any company better suited to represent the United States in managing this important country code."

Demand Media Launches ME.TV to Give Users Power to Become Masters of their Own Social Media Domains

ME.TV Tools Allow Users to Own, Program and Share Personalized Video-Centric Websites

SANTA MONICA and HOLLYWOOD, CA - Demand Media, Inc., the next-generation web media company, introduced on www.me.tv the first integrated suite of proprietary social media tools that allows anyone to own, program, and share his or her own personal video-centric website with social networking features completely controlled by them. These tools will be provided free with the purchase of a .TV domain name at www.me.tv or through an eNom reseller. eNom, a Demand Media company, is one of the largest domain registrars in the world and hosts the ME.TV network.

"As social media and web based video reaches a broader audience, users will seek simple integrated tools that empower them to develop their own 'video' web presence," said Demand Media co-founder and CEO, Richard Rosenblatt. "With ME.TV every user can 'stake claim' to their own piece of Internet real estate and participate in the next evolution of Internet media. Broad based adoption requires simple, powerful, and affordable tools and we believe we have done that with ME.TV."

The platform was unveiled last night to an audience of hundreds of leaders from the technology, new media and traditional entertainment industries during the keynote presentation of AlwaysOn Hollywood. As the online user's experience becomes more personal and community focused, the desire to build one's own space and control one's own social network has increased. Additionally, the proliferation of video content on the web continues to explode with millions of users creating, viewing and sharing video content. With these behavioral shifts in place, Demand Media is focused on transforming .TV into a major extension that surfers will recognize as the place to find video content.

"For the entertainment industry, I believe content creators of all sorts are now empowered to create their own media hub," said Carson Daly, host of NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly, who launched his .TV site, www.carsondaly.tv with the ME.TV tools and joined Richard Rosenblatt on stage during the AlwaysOn keynote. "The sky is the limit. New creativity is discovered every day online using tools and technology that give the power to the people, so there really is no stopping how talent can reach out and connect directly with their audience."

ME.TV Channel Template features include:

  • Channel Builder: Seamlessly integrated with a .TV purchase, users can create a full-functioning video-centric website "Channel", including a choice of pre-designed themes and easy-to-use video management tools.
  • Grab It® Bookmarklet: Users can browse top video sites and with a single click "grab" embed code and links for their favorite videos, allowing for quick and easy programming of their own .TV Channels. All "grabbed" video links are displayed live in the user's .TV content archive, which can then be used to create custom playlists.
  • Social Networking Tools: Each .TV Channel is its own social networking site, featuring private or public profiles, blogs, message boards, on-site messaging, user ratings, favorites, friends lists, comments, and photo albums.

In December of last year, Demand Media announced a strategic alliance with VeriSign, Inc., to leverage Demand Media's new media platform, industry relationships and web 2.0 expertise to increase .TV registrations. Verisign manages the underlying domain name registry for .TV including the back end operations and management.

World's Second-Largest Domain Name Registrar, eNom, Recognized by Inc. Magazine as One of America's 500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies

BELLEVUE, WA - eNom, Inc. (www.enom.com), the world's second-largest Internet domain name registrar, has been recognized as one of America's 500 fastest-growing private companies by Inc. Magazine.

With 3-year growth of 461% and revenues of $45.5 million, this is eNom's first appearance on the Inc. 500, which released their 25th annual list Wednesday in New York. eNom's ranking is 261.

In its recognition of eNom, Inc. Magazine noted, "The number of registered domain names, currently about 80 million, continues to explode ..." and eNom "offer(s) its clients fast responses and competitive prices."

eNom, Inc. was acquired in May of this year by Demand Media, Inc., a new company headed by former MySpace.com chairman, and former CEO of Intermix Media, Richard Rosenblatt.

Demand Media has accelerated the growth of eNom's world-class domain and reseller platform both organically and through the acquisition of domain registrar Bulk Register. This resulted in eNom becoming the world's second-largest domain name registrar, with over 8 million domains on its platform.

Demand Media is also expanding its media properties via the recent acquisition of Hillclimb Media, a developer of premium pay-for-content websites for sports enthusiasts, including Trails.com and Golflink.com. These web sites will join Demand's other media assets, including eHow.com, an expansive web site covering hundreds of different topics.

"As the media landscape continues to evolve, consumers and businesses alike will require more than just online 'billboards'," said Rosenblatt. "Domains are the building blocks of media properties and with the right content strategy, they become extremely valuable advertising and media assets."

"Inc. Magazine's recognition is an incredible distinction for the company I started in my garage in 1997 with one small computer on an ISDN line," said Paul Stahura, eNom founder and CEO and president and chief operating officer of Demand Media. "Our growth is due in no small part to our commitment to providing the most stable, flexible and advanced domain name technology platform in the industry, while remaining the low cost provider."

About eNom

BELLEVUE, WA - eNom, Inc. (www.enom.com), one of the world’s largest Internet domain name registrars, announced that it has passed the milestone of five million domain names under management.

During 2005, eNom also moved up to the ranking of world’s third largest registrar of domain names. The nine-year-old, privately held company continues growing at a remarkable pace, reflected by 2005 growth of:

  • Domain name registrations up 29%

eNom, Inc., the #1 registrar for resellers, announces the beta release of Multilingual PDQ, its domain name business toolkit

BELLVUE, WA - eNom, Inc. (www.enom.com) releases its newest product, a beta multilingual version of its domain name reselling toolkit: PDQ. The first released language is Spanish, and more languages are expected. For an additional $99.00 USD, resellers can now buy a complete Spanish-language PDQ website. Initially, beta customers will get three months free of the service to try it out.

Spanish was chosen as the first language for several reasons. Paul Stahura, CEO of eNom, explained, "Spanish was our first priority. There are over 30 million native Spanish speakers in the United States alone, and there are fast-growing markets for domain names in Latin America."

Over the past few years, eNom has been swiftly growing its reseller business internationally. Indeed, over 50% of all new eNom domain name resellers are based outside the USA. Mr. Stahura continued, "The world is connecting to the Internet faster every day-and domain names are the foundation of all Internet activity. We intend to continue to make eNom the world's domain name reseller of choice."

PDQ is eNom's complete e-commerce domain name registration and online services web site. PDQ allows resellers to sell domain names and value added services such as ID Protect, Web Hosting, SSL Certificates, Traffic Vista and others quickly and easily over the Internet.

Many Web hosting companies, Website developers, Internet business consultants, and entrepreneurs have found using eNom's turnkey domain name reselling toolkit, PDQ, to be the quickest and most effective solution on the market. Mr. Stahura said, "eNom is the technology provider of choice for the world's domain name businesses. We consistently win awards for our reseller business tools. This multilingual functionality is just one more reason that experienced professionals turn to eNom to meet their domain name business needs."

eNom, Inc. now accredited as a .eu registrar--among the first US registrars to get accreditation

BELLEVUE, WA - eNom, Inc. (www.enom.com) has recently been granted full accreditation by EURid, the official registry for .eu domain names, to offer the new .eu domain names on its world-famous domain provisioning system.

The .eu domain is projected to be one of the hottest domain extensions with an anticipated sunrise period coming near the end of 2005. The sunrise period, which is actually in two-phases, allows for those entities with a prior rights claim to their domain name to register it before .eu goes live for general registrations. eNom will be offering a pre-registration queue for this sunrise period, leveraging their size and advanced technology allowing registrants the best possible opportunity to secure the domain name they need. The queue will be submitted to EURid on a first-come, first-served basis.

"Our successful experience in the past with sunrise periods will provide a valuable knowledge base helping our customers secure their domains. As always, we will provide world-class, easy-to-use tools during the pre-registration process," noted Paul Stahura, CEO of eNom.

The pricing, sunrise information and pre-registration details will be made available shortly. Interested parties are encouraged to continue viewing the eNom website for further announcements.

eNom, Inc., announces that it will be the largest domain registrar to offer the new .Jobs Top Level Domain

BELLEVUE, WA - eNom, Inc. (www.enom.com), along with Employ Media (Cleveland, OH), announced today that it is offering customers .jobs domain registrations. eNom, Inc., one of the top registrars in the world with over 6.4 million domains hosted, will be the largest domain registrar to offer the .jobs domain.

The .jobs Top Level Domain (TLD) was created through an alliance between Employ Media, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and Verisign (ICANN). The .jobs TLD will be a sponsored top level domain. This means that it will be specific for people who deal in the human side of organizations, such as recruitment. An organization would therefore need to establish that it is a legitimate employer to receive a .jobs domain.

With the .jobs TLD the public can type in the company name followed by the .jobs extension and a special company recruiting site can come up. For example, a company could type in www.shrm.jobs and see jobs posted for the Society of Human Resource Management. Steve Brown, Director of Product Management at eNom, said recently, "We at eNom are excited to be the largest registrar to offer the .jobs TLD. Our large enterprise clients will find this offering to be an excellent addition to our already strong corporate domain management system."

eNom, Inc., the #1 Reseller Registrar, launches ClubDrop.com to extend it's leadership in the domain name registration aftermarket.

BELLEVUE, WA - ClubDrop.com (www.clubdrop.com), from eNom, Inc. (www.enom.com), is a website dedicated to Club Drop, an aftermarket auction system that registers expiring domain names as soon as they become available again. Every day thousands of domains expire and become available for purchase because the prior registrant did not renew the registration. A small and energetic market exists around registering these domains as soon as they become available. There is no cost to participate in the Club Drop service. Customers only pay if the domain name is successfully registered.

"Our auction service is one of the most successful systems in the market today", said Paul Stahura, CEO of eNom, Inc. "We have spent a lot of time developing our system in order to get the highest percentage of dropped names available."

Features Include:

  • Manage your Club Drop domains in your existing eNom account. No need to hold accounts with several different registrars.
  • Low minimum bid of only $10.
  • Free to join and customers only pay if domain is registered.
  • Free DNS, email forwarding and URL Redirection.

The system is simple to use and available 24/7. When a name is successfully registered by eNom during the name dropping period, it goes into a private auction between all those that expressed interest in the name. An eBay style auction then ensues. eNom has also introduced proxy bidding on these auctions. Proxy bidding allows you to place a maximum amount on a domain name and the system will then bid for you, bidding only enough to make you the high bidder.

Club Drop is complimented by domain name registration, web site hosting, email services, Traffic Vista (eNom's traffic analysis tool) and Web Site Monitor (eNom's web site uptime analysis tool) in eNom's family of services for both retail and reseller clients. eNom's domain name registration services provide companies and individuals easy access to securing and maintaining domain names and related services.
